Joseph is a retired New York City detective who went to Nuremberg with his son Ronnie. Since Ronnie ended his career at the New York Police Department and became an actor, the two have been at odds, but Joseph is seeking reconciliation after his wife's death. Ronnie married artist Anna and lives in an apartment building, which is also home to two elderly tenants Ernst Shrager and Frau Ganz. When Joseph arrived at the apartment, he was convinced that Shrager was Vogler, a SS officer who murdered his parents and siblings during World War II. Ronnie doubted these claims until he and his father found Nazi items and a passport in Schrager's apartment, which stated that he was Ernest Otto Volger. After this revelation, Joseph formulated a plan to seek revenge against Schrag. This movie also depicts Joseph's time in Poland while avoiding the Nazis. In the flashback, Joseph met a Polish girl named Kashka, who fell in love with him. The character's performer Sarah Borg stated in an interview that Kashka was interrogated, tortured, and killed in order to save the person she loved, as confirmed by the soundtrack. With the reluctant help of Ronnie, Joseph kidnapped Shrager and took him to a remote area for revenge. The soundtrack confirmed the news of Shrager's death, and the film ends with a final twist.
